It Is Essential
At Aspee Nutan Academy, we believe that the ability to see beauty, to create, and to express oneself visually is as important as any academic skill. Our Visual Arts programme spans Nursery to Grade 12, giving every student the opportunity to discover and develop their creative voice.
ANA's fully equipped Art Studio has produced national award-winning artists, including Ananya Singh who won First Prize at the NCERT National Young Artist Exhibition 2024. Our arts teacher, Mr. Tanveer Khan — an MFA graduate — has mentored three nationally recognized student artists over his 11 years at ANA.
Art Mediums & Forms
Oil & Acrylic Painting
Traditional and contemporary painting techniques on canvas, taught from Grades 5 onwards.
Pencil & Charcoal
Foundational sketching, still life, portraiture, and figure drawing for all age groups.
Watercolour
Watercolour landscapes, florals, and wash techniques — introduced from Grade 3.
Sculpture & Clay
Three-dimensional art using clay, plaster, and found materials. Explores form, texture, and space.
Print Making
Block printing, screen printing, and mono-printing for Grades 6 and above.
Digital Art
Digital illustration and graphic design using tablets and design software for Grades 8–12.
Photography
Composition, lighting, and visual storytelling. Runs as a club and as part of the IBCP Arts pathway.
Craft & Mixed Media
Collage, weaving, paper-craft, and mixed media installations for all grades.
National Young Artist Award Winner — Ananya Singh
Grade 7 student Ananya Singh's oil painting "Monsoon Mumbai" won First Prize at the NCERT National Young Artist Exhibition 2024 in New Delhi, beating over 800 entries from across India. Her teacher, Mr. Khan, describes her as "a generational talent with an instinctive eye for colour and emotion."
The ANA Art Exhibition
Every year, ANA holds its flagship Art Exhibition where students from Nursery to Grade 12 display their finest work from the academic year. Over 300 artworks are exhibited, and parents, alumni, and invited guests attend the opening evening.
The exhibition is not just a showcase — it is a celebration of every child's creative journey. Works are selected by an independent panel of artists, and prizes are awarded in multiple categories including Best Painting, Best Sculpture, Best Digital Work, and Most Innovative Use of Materials.
